Tensions on the cricket field make cricketers do crazy stuff. Some chew nails. Some try to sledge and unsettle the opposition player. Some just concentrate on the task at hand.

And then there was Shaun Pollock.

With Sri Lanka needing 11 from 7 deliveries and Chaminda Vaas still at the crease with the dangerous Tilakaratne Dilshan, South Africa knew the match was far from over. In comes Pollock to bowl his final delivery of the match. With no boundaries coming in the first five deliveries, Vaas goes for the big one and launches it in the air. But low full-tosses are hard to hit for anyone and Vaas doesn't get it right out of the meat of the bat. Johan Botha takes a neat catch at long on.

What does the excited bowler do? He just hugs an amused Aleem Dar in celebration and gives a release to the pent-up tension. Sights that you don't see very often on the cricket ground, captured here beautifully by Hamish Blair.

South Africa eventually won by 9 runs on the back of a terrific final over by Andrew Hall.
