When peak KP met peak Warne

When England started their 2006-07 Ashes campaign in Brisbane, they didn't start it on the brightest of notes with Harmison delivering that wide to the slips. But things began to look up when out came their brightest - Kevin Pietersen.

And KP did KP things along with Paul Collingwood. He lit up the Gabba with a wide array of shots. He took particular liking to his ex Hampshire skipper Shane Warne. The leg-spinner, still reeling under the 2005 defeat didn't like it. After all, that's not how the showman wanted to leave the stage.

Warne’s frustrations finally erupted and he threw the ball at Pietersen, who defended himself with his bat before calling Warne a “f**kwit”.

Next Test in Adelaide saw KP dominating Warne again when he scored 158. In the next innings, however, the blond bombshell had his revenge.

With England staring at a match turning collapse, they needed KP to salvage the situation. But Warne pitched one outside the leg stump and before KP could sweep it, his wickets had been disturbed by a magical delivery. Warne finished with 4-49. England were all out for 129. Australia won by 4 wickets to go 2-0 up.
