Random Cricket Photos Post 24

This is not a drill. I repeat. This is not a drill.

This is not even Football. Or Rugby. It's Cricket. Almost the highest level of it.

In 1994-95, Victoria, one of the teams playing in the Australian domestic circuit, decided to go for the jugular and bring in some kind of a fashion statement to the game. With very little about the clothing that could possibly be changed, they went for what's been possibly the most hideous innovation ever in cricket. They played with shorts on. At least, that's how they fielded and bowled.

Everyone, except Victoria, was not greatly impressed by the innovation. But who cares about pants or shorts when you end up winning the One Day tournament after 15 years. The Dean Jones led side trumped Western Australia by 4 wickets in the final of the Mercantile Mutual Cup. The wrecker-in-chief was the man in the picture (and in shorts) - Troy Corbett who broke the back of WA's batting with 4 wickets.

Thankfully, sanity prevailed the next summer and the game's shortest lived experiment remained just that - an experiment.

Find the video of them playing in shorts here - https://twitter.com/RandomCrick…/status/1217752303488270337…
