England had just escaped a defeat in the first Test of the 2009 #Ashes and before the second Test began at Lord's another setback hit them. Andrew Flintoff, after another injury scare, decided that he had enough of the injections and the painkillers. He announced that this series would be his last, which also meant that it would be his last match at Lord's.
As if a part of some divine conspiracy, the match ended with a final inning 5 for by Flintoff resulting in a memorable English win. And this memorable celebration. Reflecting about it later, the all-rounder said
"We hadn't beaten Australia at Lord's for the longest time. For me, I knew I was never going to play at Lord's again. So, that celebration wasn't of the wicket. That celebration was for me.
I went down on one knee and spread my arms out. It was taking Lord's in one last time. Smelling it. Hearing it. Feeling it. I shut my eyes when I was celebrating. At that point, I was just listening and taking it all in for one last time because I knew once I left that field, I will never walk out at Lord's again wearing an England cap playing a Test match. So, I just wanted it to last forever. Wanted to stop that moment there."
